Our tour starts today with your arrival to our hotel in Edinburgh. Our welcome dinner tonight, paired with whisky, is at the exclusive Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s Queen Street venue, hosted by the world's most renowned whisky writer and expert, Charlie Maclean. D
After breakfast this morning we head west to the Highland region to visit a wonderful distillery, Glengoyne, known for having the slowest stills in Scotland. As they say: “We like to take our time “. Although distilled in the Highlands, making this a Highland single malt, the whisky is matured in the Lowlands. This is because the Glengoyne distillery sits upon the Highland Line, the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland which splits the distillery in two. After a fine and rare tasting at the distillery we drive through the impressive scenery of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park to Oban, a picturesque seaport town in the Western Highlands where we visit the Oban Distillery and enjoy a tasting. This morning we drive in a northeasterly direction as we continue to admire the impressive scenery of the Scottish Highlands, passing through Glen Coe and other incredible landscapes. In the early afternoon we take a tour of the Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest above sea-level distillery in Scotland, and enjoy an exclusive tasting. We continue further into the Cairngorms National Park to our Speyside hotel where we will stay for the next four nights. B L D
For the next three days we will visit favorite distilleries in Speyside and the Highlands and enjoy some unique experiences such as a Sherry Masterclass and tasting at GlenDronach Distillery, a blending masterclass at Strathisla Distillery, where you will be able to make your own custom blended whisky to take with you, a deconstructed tasting of a range of unique expressions at the Aberlour Distillery, and a cask tasting at Glenallachie Distillery. We will visit other distilleries such as Glenfarclas, Benriach, and Glenfiddich, Scotland’s largest distillery. 3B 3L 3D
This morning we will say goodbye to Speyside and on our way back to Edinburgh we will visit the Royal Lochnagar Distillery for a warehouse tasting. Queen Victoria awarded Royal Lochnagar a Royal Warrant in 1848 after visiting the distillery and sampling a dram. The distillery is located near Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of the Royal Family. After lunch we travel to the oldest operating distillery in Scotland, Glenturret (since 1763), for a tour and extended tasting. Tonight’s farewell dinner and tasting is at the Vaults, the spiritual home of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. B L D
